Camp America Releases Program Impact Assessment

ORLANDO, FL – February 6, 2014 –

Camp America, providers of cultural exchange opportunities for campers and camp staff since 1969, announced today the release of a new publication that focuses on the long-term cultural impact of the U.S. summer camp experience for international staff. 

Camp America Outcomes spotlights the benefits and effects of incorporating cultural exchange into American summer camps. The 36-page assessment uses direct feedback from campers, camp staff and participants from the past 45 years of Camp America to illustrate how the program broadens horizons, enlightens minds and impacts countless lives.

The publication is being released today at the 2014 ACA National Conference being held this week at the Orlando Hilton. Camp America representatives in town for the event will have copies of Camp America Outcomes to distribute to fellow conference attendees. An electronic version of Outcomes is available

“We have always considered the value and lifelong impact of the program to be inestimable,” states Dennis Regan, Senior Vice President of Camp America. “This publication attempts to test this assertion through empirical evidence and direct feedback reaching back through the decades. We think that we have succeeded and that people will find the results interesting and compelling.”

Camp America sent a survey to over 90,000 past participants and received more than 11,000 responses. From the survey, 92% said that the program was one of the most meaningful experiences of their lives; 92% of participants said their experience gave them a broader understanding of American society through personal friendships and contact with Americans.
